“I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you on the way and to bring you into the place that I have prepared. Pay attention to him, and obey his voice. Do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgressions, because my name is in him.” (Exodus 23:20-21)
- Jehovah your God will raise up for you from among your brothers a prophet like me. You must listen to him. (Deuteronomy 18:15)
- While he was still speaking, look! a bright cloud overshadowed them, and look! a voice out of the cloud said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved. Listen to him.” (Matthew 17:5)
- Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying: “This is my Son, the one who has been chosen. Listen to him.” (Luke 9:35)
- My God will reject them, For they have not listened to him, And they will become fugitives among the nations. (Hosea 9:17)
- See that you do not refuse to listen to the one who is speaking. For if those who refused to listen to the one giving divine warning on earth did not escape, how much more will we not escape if we turn away from him who speaks from the heavens! (Hebrews 12:25)
- But all those listening to him were in constant amazement at his understanding and his answers. (Luke 2:47)

I had studied the bible with two different JW member. They both had their selfish agenda to become an elder after my baptism. I really wondered if they cared about me or not. The witnesses were there for me in my youth but now I’ve moved on the more mature content. I thank you for all of your love but I must say good bye. cheers!!! Frank M Antonetti

My Webblog https://soldier4christ7.wordpress.com/ has been viewed many times from this page. I’m curious if EXODUS 23:20-21 is truly what someone who identifies as “JW” really understands. Especially when Jesus followers are called to ONLY IDENTIFY as “In Christ” because there is no condemnation in Jesus. (Ref: Romans 8:1, Rev 19:10 and 1Corinth 3:21)

Thank you AJ for your comment. Yes, I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and bear witness ‘In Christ”. The Bible states, “and from Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness,” “the firstborn from the dead,” and “the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and who set us free from our sins by means of his own blood.” (Rev 1:5)
With that said, EXODUS 23:20-21 does refer to the angel having God’s Name in him. “I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you on the way and to bring you into the place that I have prepare. A few scripture of many that support this:
-So he has become better than the angels to the extent that he has inherited a name more excellent than theirs. (Heb 1:4)
-For this very reason, God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name, so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend—of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground. (Philippians 2:9-10)
-“For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,” (Acts 27:23)
Excellent reply. I like how you said that you are a Jehovah’s Witness that bears witness “In Christ.” I believe we might be able to relate this to “a traditional Jew” and a Messianic Jew (who believes Jesus is the Messiah).
Locally, “JW – The Kingdom Hall” would be a “traditional JW” that does not recognize Jesus as The Messiah. “Rather, they acknowledge Jesus was a good person.”
This is why I only identify as “IN CHRIST” and will never profess to be “in” any LOST RELIGION.
I pray you understand and I pray you know that I am happy to shake hands with anyone (except those who are evil) and I really enjoy talking spiritually to those who only follow Jesus also. (1Corinth 3:21, Rev 19:10 and Gal 5:1-2)
